Na Nawang
Na Nawang
Na Nawang is a fashion and lifestyle brand founded in December 2022 by two sisters born and raised in Nawang, a small district in Nongbua Lamphu, Thailand. Nongbua Lamphu is known as one of the lowest income level cities in Thailand. We aim to make business opportunities available for local people to have a better living. The city is known locally for its unique products such as hand-woven fabric and bamboo tools. Our goal at Na Nawang is to elevate the products of local artisans by adding a modern touch to the traditional styling. These will allow us to make the products desirable in the broader consumer market. Our long term goal is to create products that embrace modern Thai fashion and promote sustainability. We plan to work closely with experts in textiles in order to find local sustainable materials for our fabric and shoe collection such as corn husk or sugarcane fiber. Additionally, we would like to create a natural cosmetic line from a blend of natural herb and floral ingredients. The ultimate goal of our effort is to create a lifestyle brand that encompasses all aspects of sustainable living.
The products featured for this event include our first apparel collection and shoes. The apparel collection consists of dresses, crop tops, trousers and jackets made from hand woven, natural dyed, local cotton fabric. We work with the academic community, artisans and local leaders to create a more modern pattern design and adjust color combinations to fit the lifestyle of modern women while still keeping the uniqueness of Nongbua Lamphu's character.
The shoe collection consists of hand woven leather and fabric shoes. We transfer the skill set and expertise of the local artisans in weaving bamboo tools to weave leather for shoes making. A classic woven pattern called " Ta Waw" is being used in this collection and we plan on incorporating more patterns in the future. For the fabric shoes, we use the left over scrap from the apparel production process in order to maximize the value of our material. Both leather and fabric shoes will include the use of natural rubber tree cushion produced in Thailand instead of synthetic foam which is commonly used in the industry.
