Isan Creative Festival 2026 (ISANCF2026)

“NORTHEAST MODERN”

Abundance | Adaptation | Connectivity

11 – 19 July 2026

Isan Creative Festival 2026 (ISANCF2026) returns for its 6th edition, organized by the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) or CEA, under the theme “NORTHEAST MODERN – Abundance | Adaptation | Connectivity.”

The festival highlights the spirit of “Dern” — a modern expression of Isan (Northeastern Thailand) that is not about flamboyance, but about confidence in its own identity and values.

“Dern” reflects the attitude of a region that understands its roots, recognizes its potential, and expresses itself with confidence and creativity. Amid global uncertainties, Isan possesses rich cultural capital, the strength of its people, and distinctive identities that can be meaningfully developed further. When combined with technology and contemporary design, these assets become a powerful driver of regional competitiveness.

The 20 provinces of Isan each hold diverse strengths in areas such as the economy, education, border connectivity, agriculture, and tourism. With unique advantages across the region, Isan is not merely a vast geographical area, but a “land of opportunities” ready to grow into creative businesses and a new regional economic ecosystem.

From the question of what Isan “has,”

to the answer of what Isan “can do.”

Discover NORTHEAST MODERN — confident, competitive, open, and rooted in the warmth and friendliness that define the spirit of the region.

Core Themes of the Festival

ABUNDANCE

Isan is rich in diversity — natural resources, cultural assets, bold and vibrant cuisine, music, art, joyful traditions, and growing creative business opportunities. These elements reflect a state of “abundance,” ready to welcome new ideas and share new values with the world.

ADAPTATION

At the heart of Isan identity lies the “art of adaptation” — a quality that enables not only survival but continuous reinvention. Across lifestyles, arts, music, food, and creative enterprises, this adaptability “connects cultural capital with contemporary business opportunities. It strengthens Isan’s competitiveness and resilience in an ever-changing global landscape.

CONNECTIVITY

Warmth, friendship, and joy define the atmosphere of every festival in this region. “Muan” (joyfulness) is a connecting force — bringing together people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. It positions Isan as welcoming, forward-looking, and ready to grow alongside the modern world. A region that is livable, memorable, and worth returning to.

Festival Venues and Program Formats

The festival runs for 9 days from 11 – 19 July 2026 across four main venues in Khon Kaen — TCDC Khon Kaen, Central Khon Kaen Campus, Sri Chan Creative District, Khon Kaen International Convention and Exhibition Center (KICE) — as well as additional locations throughout the Isan region.

ISANCF2026 presents over 200 programs across 7 key festival formats: Academic Program, Creative Business Platform, Showcase & Exhibition, Talk & Workshop, Event & Entertainment Program, D-KAK Creative Market and Creative District Project.

Today, “Dern” represents the new image of Isan — rooted, directional, and dynamic — ready to create impact on both national and international stages. Join us in shaping a new chapter of the creative economy — one that grows from cultural capital and moves confidently toward a secure and sustainable future.

About the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization)

The Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) or CEA was established on 14 August 2018 through the elevation of Thailand Creative & Design Center into a public organization under the supervision of the Office of the Prime Minister. CEA’s mandate is to promote and strengthen Thailand’s creative economy as a key driver toward balanced and sustainable long-term economic development. One of CEA’s core missions is the development of creative districts — fostering environments that encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, and new business formation, while strengthening connections with surrounding communities. CEA also supports the growth of creative industries by enhancing capabilities and building networks, enabling creativity to serve as a strategic tool for business advancement and improved quality of life for Thai people. The Isan Creative Festival is organized under the supervision of CEA Khon Kaen.
